I've been searching and trying for a long time to force my PAL PS1 games in 60Hz 240p/480i Even though my PS2 bootchip is able to force some PAL PS2 games into 60Hz properly it doesn't work with PS1 games. Neither does that GSM homebrew program that can be used to force some PS2 games into 480p I've read that it's the game disc that dictates if the console outputs in 50 or 60Hz.

Yup - a pal PS2 can play NTSC games perfectly, the GSM just switches into the appropriate mode. Issues only arise with NTSC PS1 games as the timings are hardware dependent on the PS1 side. You can then either rip and burn your NTSC games with an ESR patch, or take the much easier route and rip them to an internal HDD or micro sd. Guys remember that PAL optimized games run faster with NTSC patch applied. It depends on the game, some games got better PAL optimized than others but mostly the PAL games from Nintendo and from european development studios (Codemasters) run too fast.

And with the amazing bios-hacking that has happened the last few years for Dreamcast and Saturn I was wondering if modifying the bios would enable the PS1 to bypass the 50/60Hz information on the disc so we can play those PS1 originals in 60Hz? It is PAL optimized as the music played too fast in the menus while in NTSC and parts of the screen did get eaten up by what I'd normally say is overscan but it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't attempting to use the additional lines of resolution that PAL offers. I'll have to play with the vertical adjustment settings later to find out as well as testing out some PAL PS1 games I couldn't get patched to run in NTSC at all. My fear is that since they're ryhtm based games (Dance UK being one of them) that the music, if its not CDDA based, might run too fast too negating the whole point of playing such a game. On the downside it looks like someone beat the living crap out of the fan connector and it broke soon after I attempted to remove it. Lovingly soldered the wires directly to the connector for now until I find an alternative connection method.
