I've recently found an article that said to add the following parameters to the launch options in Steam to improve performance: -norestrictions -noprecache -novblank -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem 100 I'll try to find the link which explains the parameters in detail. But in short, these are things to make it run on consoles, which we do not require. EDIT: I couldn't find the exact link, but.

EDIT 2: Just decided to actually give this a go, and there's definitely an improvement! Where I used to have most things in a med-high setting, I can now completely max it out on a 7970, i7 930, 16gb RAM, on SSD, at around an average of 40fps, with only the slightest lag when new stuff is being rendered (helo flying is still a bit laggy maxed out). Overall, it's quite an improvement!:) • • • •. Optimization wasn't necessarily the best at launch, but these days with a decent pc you can get this game running beautifully, and the patches it received certainly improved that as well. The trick oddly enough is increasing the settings/effects, so it actually engages your graphics card more, since it's rather cpu bound by default. Also helps to add this to your startup/launch options (-norestrictions -noprecache -novblank -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem 100) Currently I run a AMD Phenom II Quad Core at 3.4ghz (tho any decent quad core that's above 3-3.2ghz should be be fine), 12 gb of ram (tho 4-8 is still plenty.
