Saint Seiya: Next Dimension is the canonical sequel to the original manga and is currently ongoing. The story is said to lead into an Olympus Arc and following a Titanomachy arc against the Titan Kronos. Up-to-date on all series except Saintia Sho up-to-date on the Lost Canvas series but contains early Saintia Sho chapters and most Next Dimension chapters. My review on Legend of Sanctuary: I loved it for the most part.

I think it was a well choreographed movie given that it was 30 minute shorter than I think it needed to be. I does take a large leap in the comedic side of things (ex. Cancer Deathmask's singing) but when the scenes required it the movie did get more serious. I like the take they did on the story, adapting a few things (Milo as a woman despite how boss Milo [man] is I accepted it; the clothes were gorgeous; Saga being 'killed off' instead of missing) and I generally thought it took the Sanctuary Arc very well. For an 1 1/2hr movie it did the story arc good but like I said needed an extra 30 min to be supreme. HOWEVER.if you are completely unknown to the manga or anime you are lost the entire movie. I suspect the movie was made for fans of the series so less needed to be explained (Camus vs Hyoga, ranks among saints, etc).

They didn't entirely ignore the Silver Saints, having Saggita make an appearance, but based on the storyline he wasn't needed. I was slightly disappointed that not everyone got their moment to shine (Shun and Ikki were underwhelming.well Shun at fighting he was good overall) and Aphrodite (well who likes him) got OHKO'd in.00006 sec. The fights overall were good and fun to watch and made up for how quickly some things were progressing. The major disappointment to me though was the ending.specifically Gold Gemini Sephiroth. In the manga we know Saga had plans to use Athena's cosmo & Nike Staff to conquer Earth and Olympus.

In the movie he uses her cosmos to become a stone version of Clear Note's final spell in the Zatch Bell manga (). If they would've stuck to an all-out brawl til the end I would've liked it more than having flashbacks of Sephiroth's final form in FFVII. All in all, I would say the movie was really entertaining and for fans of the manga/anime a great pleasure to watch and something long awaited.

Conclusion: I'd give the movie a 7/10 for great animations and adaptation of the story/characters. It did need an extra half hour I would say to either flesh out fight backgrounds or even give more to 'not a fan' viewer. With this all said, if they chose to make a Legend of Atlantis based on the Poseidon Arc, the story arc is much smaller than the Sanctuary Arc that it could fit better in the 1 1/2hr time slot • • • •.
