Driver Midistart 2 Windows 10

Recently I have bought my first midi keyboard, Miditech Midistart 3. I'm having certain issues with it but i thought I'd ask here before complaining to Thomann store. The keyboard is connected to the PC via USB and I'm using Cubase 5.

The problem is that sometimes when I open Cubase, the keyboard doesn't respond. Turning the keyboard off, exiting Cubase, turning keyboard back on and re-opening Cubase usually solves the problem, but not always. However I don't think this is normal behavior. I have also tried changing USB port, but the problem persists.

The USB Audio 2.0 Class Driver for Windows implements the USB Audio 2.0 and 1.0 device class specification and is independent of the specific silicon and firmware solution used in a given device. As long as the hardware and firmware implement the descriptors, endpoints and requests defined in the class specification the driver should work.

I have tried connecting it via MIDI cable, which requires the keyboard to be powered externally. Tried two different 9V adapters, but the light next to the power switch doesn't respond.

It does light up when I connect it via USB. Sometimes it also happens to freeze one note, as if a key was stuck and it doesn't stop until i press the key again or change the VSTi. IIRC it's always one of the black keys (i think C#) but I'm not completely sure about that.

I'm running Cubase 5 on Windows 7 SP1, with M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496. Also, keyboard is 'plug & play' and there don't seem to be any additional drivers available for it.

Help much appreciated, cheers! Posts: 2 Joined: Tue Nov 22, 2011 1:00 am. Hi Ernie, and welcome to the SOS Forums! It sounds to me like some sort of intermittent connection, which could account for both the keyboard not responding and also the stuck note.

Have you tried changing the USB lead to check that’s OK? As you’re on PC, I’d also recommend downloading and installing the excellent MIDIOX utility, which lets you see exactly what MIDI data is coming in and out of any your computer’s MIDI ports, including your USB connected one. Then you should be able to rule Cubase out of the equation.

I have a Carillon MIDI keyboard which sometimes 'looses connection' with the PC. I got into the habit of checking 'devices and printers' from the start menu before opening Cubase - if there was an exclamation point next to it simply unplugging it and replugging it caused it to be re-recognised. Also the PC took an eternity to boot up when it was connected! My M-Audio Keystation Pro, on the other hand, works fine using the same USB cable. I think this is a 'feature' of cheap keyboards.

Might be worth changing the USB cable anyway, see if it cures your stuck notes problem. Cheers Regular Posts: 139 Joined: Thu Feb 17, 2005 1:00 am. Red alert 2 windows 10

I have a Miditech Midistudio-2 midi keyboard and none of the drivers on their website work, even if you install them using the compatibility installation. The only valid option you get is XP-version 3 and I don't think the driver worked on that, only on versions 1 and 2. There is a 32-bit update on their site but it won't even run on my system, which is 64-bit. The only option that currently works is to power the keyboard using USB then plug a midi cable into a sound card. I'd rather run it using the USB cable that came with it if possible.
